Dream Bars

1/3 c. butter softened 1 1/2 c. packed brown sugar 1 c. plus 2 T flour 2 eggs 1 t. vanilla 1/2 t. salt 1 t. baking powder 1 1/2 c. coconut 1 c. chopped nuts Frosting: 4 T Butter softened 2 c. powered sugar 1 t. vanilla 1 t. orange peel 2 T orange juice Beat butter and 1/2. c. sugar until creamy. With a fork, blend in 1 c. of the flour until mixture resembles fine crumbs. Press mixture firmly over bottom of a greased 9x13 pan, forming an even layer. Bake for 375 for 10 minutes and let cool. Beat eggs until light and lemon-colored then gradually beat in remaining 1 c. sugar. Beat in vanilla, remaining 2 T flour, salt, and baking powder. Stir in coconut and nuts until thoroughly combined. Pineapple-coconut Bars

1/2 c. butter softened 1 c. packed brown sugar 2 eggs 1/4 t. almond extract 3/4 c. flour 3/4 t. baking powder 1/2  t. salt 3/4 c. coconut 1 can (oz) crushed pineapple, drained well Beat butter and sugar until creamy. Beat in eggs and almond extract. Sift flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add dry ingredients to mixture. Stir in coconut and pineapple. Spread in greased 9 in square baking pan (double for 9x13) Bake at 350 for 25 minutes or until top springs back when lightly touched. Makes 3 dozen.

Cheesecake Brownies

Brownie Layer: 1 pkg. Brownie mix 1 egg 1/3 c. water 1/3 c. crisco oil Cheesecake Layer: 3 8 oz. pkg. cream cheese 2 1/2 c. sugar 4 or 5 eggs 2 t. vanilla 2 c. mini chocolate chips 4 T milk 1 1/2 or 1 3/4 c. flour Combine brownie ingredients and spread in greased 9x13 pan. Cook at 350 for 10 min. Combine cream cheese, sugar, and butter till light and fluffy. Then add eggs and milk till fluffy. Mix in 1/2 of chocolate chips and put rest on top. Spread on top of Brownie mixture and bake at  350 for 35 minutes.

Gooie Middle Bars

1 box yellow cake mix 1/3 c oil 2 eggs 8 oz. chocolate chips 1 can sweetened condensed milk 1 stick of butter Combine cake mix, oil, and eggs and set aside. Melt together in microwave chocolate, milk, and butter and stir until creamy. Press half of cake mixture in bottom of cake pan. Pour chocolate mixture on top of mixture in pan. Press sections of remaining cake mixture in hand and set on top till covered. Bake at 350 for 28 min. (in mom's oven 340 for 23 mins)

Raspberry Bars

1 box yellow cake mix 1/3 c. oil 2 eggs Seedless raspberry jam 1 bag white chocolate chips Combine cake mix, oil, and eggs. Press 1/2 of mixture into bottom of 9x13 pan. Spread jam over crust and sprinkle with chocolate chips. Press sections of remaining cake mixture in hand and set on top till covered. Bake at 350 for 28 minutes. (mom's oven cook at 340 for 23 minutes)

Aunt Julie's Peanut Butter Cookies

1/2 c. sugar 1/2 c. packed brown sugar 1/2 c. shortening 1/2 c. Peanut Butter 1 egg 1 1/4 c. flour  3/4 t. baking soda 1/2 t. baking powder 1/4 t. salt Mix sugars, shortening, peanut butter, and egg. Sift dry ingredients then add to mixture. Bake at 375 for 10 minutes. Press with fork for criss cross pattern or a snickers for snicker cookies.

Swiss Chicken

6-8 boneless chicken breasts sliced swiss cheese, enough to cover chicken 1 can cream of chicken soup 1/2 c. milk 1 cube butter (melted) 2 c. stuffing (Pepperidge Farm) Place chicken breasts in lightly buttered baking dish. Cover with slices of Swiss cheese. Make sauce with soup and milk and pour over chicken. Mix butter and stuffing and sprinkle over the top. Cover with foil and bake at 350 for 30 minutes. Uncover and bake 30 min more.

Oatmeal Cookies (Butterscotch)

1 1/4 c. flour 1 t. baking soda 1 c. butter (softened) 1/4 c. sugar 3/4 c. brown sugar 1 small pkg. Jello instant vanilla pudding 2 eggs 3 1/2 c. quick oatmeal 1 c. raisins or butterscotch chocolate chips mix flour with baking soda. Combine butter, sugars, and pudding. Beat till smooth and creamy. Beat in eggs, gradually and flour mixture. Stir in oats and chips or raisins. Bake at 375 for 10-12 minutes.

Rolled Yummy Cookies (aka mom's sugar cookies)

1 c. shortening 1 c. sour cream 1 egg 2 c. sugar 1 t. vanilla 5 1/2 c. flour 4 t. baking powder 1/2 t. baking soda 1/2 t. salt Cream shortening, sugar, egg. Add sour cream and vanilla. Sift dry ingredients. Stir in creamed mixture. Roll out and cut. Place on ungreased sheet. Bake at 400 for 7 minutes. Frost and decorate as desired.

Ginger Snaps

3/4 c. margarin 3/4 c butter 1 c. sugar 1 egg 1/4 c. molasses 2 1/4 c. flour 2 t. baking soda 1 t. cinnamon 1 t. cloves 1 t. ginger 2 t. baking powder cream margarin, butter, and sugar. Add egg and molasses. Whisk together flour, soda, cinnamon, cloves. ginger, and baking powder and add to mixture. Roll into balls and dip in sugar. Bake at 350 for 8 min (soft) or 15 min (hard)

Snickerdoodles

1 c. shortening 1 1/2 c. sugar 2 eggs 2 3/4 c. flour 1 t. baking soda 2 t. baking powder 1/2 t. salt 2 t. sugar 2 t. cinnamon mix shortening, sugar, and eggs thoroughly. Then sift and stir in flour, soda, powder, and salt. Chill dough and roll into balls. Roll in 2 t. sugar and cinnamon. Bake at 400 for 8-10 minutes.

Carmelitas

50 caramels 1/2 c. evaporated milk 2 c. flour 1 1/2 c. brown sugar 1 c. margarin (softened) 1 t. baking soda 2 c. oats 6 oz. chocolate chips dissolve caramels with milk in top of double boiler. Mix flour, brown sugar, margarin, and baking soda then add oats. Pat 1/2 inches 9x13 pan and bake at 350 for 10 min. Cool slightly and then sprinkle chocolate chips. Drip caramel mix over and cover with remaining crumbs. Pat slightly. Bake for 10-15 min.

Lemon Squares

(for 9x13" pan) 2 c. flour 1 c. margarin 1/2 c. confectioners sugars 4 eggs 2 c. granulated sugar 1 t. baking powder 1/2 t. salt 4 T lemon juice 2 T corn starch Mix flour, butter, and powdered sugar. Press in ungreased square pan building up 1/4 in edge. Bake at 350 for 20 minutes. Beat remaining ingredients about 3 minutes or until light and fluffy. Pour over hot crust. Bake 25 minutes and cut.

Orange Slice Bars

1 lb. orange slice candies 2 1/4 c. brown sugar 4 eggs 6 t. boiling water 1 t. vanilla 1/2 c. margarin 2 t. baking powder 2 1/4 c. flour Cut slices into small pieces and add boiling water- let stand (don't drain) cream sugar, butter, egg, and vanilla. Mix fry ingredients and add to mixture. Add in orange slices. Bake at 350 for 25-30 minutes. Don't completely cool or too hard to cut.

Chocolate Chip Pudding Cookies

This is the famous chocolate chip recipe 1 1/2 c. brown sugar 1/2 c granulated sugar 1 large box vanilla pudding (1 c. scant) 1 c. margarin (you can substitute1/4-1/2 c. shortening with butter or margarine for softer cookies) 1 c. butter 2 eggs 3 or 4 T hot water 1 t. vanilla, almond, or coconut extract 4 1/2 c. flour 2 t. baking powder 1 c. nuts 2 t. baking soda 1 t. salt (optional) 1 1/2 pkgs chocolate chips (white chips optional) Cream butter/margarin, sugars, and pudding mix. Add eggs, cream for 3-4 min, then add hot water. Cream 3 minutes more. Add extract. Combine dry ingredients with whisk then add to mixture. Add nuts and chocolate chips (sometimes I add coconut) Chill dough 1-2 hours (optional) Bake at 350-375 for 8-12 minutes. Don't overbake

It Worked

After a long time- I finally figured out how to use this and it is pretty nifty so far!! I'm using the Paprika App and it's pretty easy to use once you know what to do! I think the best way to go about this is slowly start adding recipes to the blog! It doesn't have to be all at once but I think if we imputt the cookies as we make them for Christmas, at least we'll have those done! Then as we find new recipes we can add them to the blog and Voila! I'll have to sit you guys down and teach you how to use the app but other then that Bonne Appetite!

Ginger Bread Boys

Aunt Anne's Ginger Bread Boys:            2/3 c. shortening 2/3 c. brown sugar 2 eggs 1 1/3 c. Molasses 5c. Flour 2 t. baking soda 2 t. salt 4 t. cinnamon 2 t. ginger Mix together shortening, brown sugar, egg, et molasses. Then sift together flour, soda, salt, cinnamon, and ginger. Stir in dry ingredients into wet mixture. Chill dough for 1 hour. Roll out thick (1/4”). Cut with boy cookie cutter and place on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 for 8-10 min or until when lightly pressed no impression remains. DO NOT OVERBAKE for soft cookies. Take them out when in doubt.  When coo
